Who would break a butterfly on a wheel?
The Cult, beginning of "Soul Asylum"
It was a good enough weekend.
I offered friendship and support as appropriate.
I showed love and loyalty when it seemed needed.
I did what I could to make others' lives easier.

Oh yes, those things are valued, I know.

Many times on our journey we are tempted
to identify too much with the infinite,
to starve in a crystal palace.

—John Tarrant in _The Light Inside the Dark_
I am thankful for those who care about me,
who make time for me, who worry about me.

Sometimes all love is, is just driving home,
letting someone close his eyes to rest a bit,
and cursing the bump in the road that wakes him.

Just for today, I will respond with compassion
to any anger or frustration.

Just for today, I will accept all that I am.
