Writing and thinking, thinking and writing

stare at a blank sheet of paper until
drops of blood form on your forehead.

Self-doubt does not affect my self-worth;
it only blocks me from seeing how valuable I am.

- Or until small chunks of brain splatter
onto your monitor screen. Take your pick.
Spent much of the past several days working
on a high-profile rush project for work:
analysis and recommendations about user-
centered testing for a number of proposed
e-government standards. Tried not to let it
interfere totally with the rest of my life,
but that's not so easy when one wants to do
a good job - and it also reaches into such a
large number of one's own specialities. In
providing qualifications for writing specific
analysis and recommendations for some standards,
I literally slanted my training and experience
three very different ways. Moments like that are
where one truly realizes just how much one knows
and how far one has come in life. A good sense
of accomplishment and achievement through time,
though hopefully there is much more yet to come.
Finished the heavy lifting today at about 5 PM.
Left work and spent a couple of hours just being.
Tomorrow, I return to work. Tonight, I play.

it only blocks me from seeing how valuable I am.
