I guess that sort of bourgeois paranoia is pervasive. The REM song says, "Oh no I've said too much, I haven't said enough". I think many struggle with this whole dynamic. I'm not sure if it comes from being overly sensitized or from one's spirit being overwhelmed by external forces. I do know it can leave feelings of mild dispair and isolation. It would be so easy to say just relate to those you trust implicitly, but you try to trust and you just get betrayed again.
